The longest, most solitary Camino
The Vía de la Plata covers around 975 km from Seville to Santiago de Compostela, following an old Roman road through Extremadura and Castilla y León before turning west at Granja de Moreruela onto the Camino Sanabrés, which crosses Puebla de Sanabria and Ourense on its way into Galicia.
It's the longest and least crowded of all the Ways of St James: it's less about elevation gain (except for a few stretches around Sanabria and Ourense) and more about solitude and very long stages, with towns and services sometimes over 30 km apart, especially through Extremadura during the hottest months.
