The only Camino that doesn't end in Santiago

The Camino to Fisterra and Muxía is different from the rest: instead of leading you to the Cathedral, it leaves from it. For centuries, Cape Fisterra was believed to be the westernmost point of continental Europe, the "Finis Terrae", and today it remains the symbolic destination for thousands of pilgrims who decide not to stop in Compostela.

In Olveiroa the route splits: you can go straight to Fisterra, straight to Muxía, or link the two, which is what the Xunta de Galicia itself recommends ("walking between the two villages is a must"). These 5 stages follow that full variant: Fisterra first, Muxía after.

It doesn't entitle you to a new Compostela — that can only be arranged in Santiago — but in Fisterra you can get the Fisterrana, a different certificate that confirms you reached the lighthouse at kilometre 0.
