From Guillena to Castilblanco de los Arroyos is 18.3 km along the Vía de la Plata. It's stage 2, with 364 m of ascent and 63 m of descent, completed in about 4 h 30 min. Difficulty: Easy.
First encounter with the dehesa
Although it's a short stage, it has a practically continuous, moderate climbing profile throughout, steadily gaining altitude from Guillena.
The day's great protagonist is the first dehesa of the entire Vía de la Plata: a landscape of scattered holm oaks and cork oaks over pastureland, typical of southwestern Spain, which will be a constant on the following stages through Extremadura.
There are no intermediate services along the whole route, so it's worth leaving Guillena with enough water and food. The stage ends in Castilblanco de los Arroyos, already deep in Seville's Sierra Norte, a pleasant town with a good atmosphere for pilgrims.
